Legal Aid Department, Hong Kong SAR Government
The Legal Aid Department provides legal representation to eligible applicants by a solicitor. Any person who need legal assistance for court proceedings may apply for legal aid under the Legal Aid Schemes.
Legal aid will be granted if the applicant is able to satisfy the statutory criteria as to the financial eligibility and the merits for taking or defending the legal proceedings.
The scope of Legal Aid Scheme covers the following cases:

› employees' compensation | › employees' wages and related employment benefits |
› seamen's wage claims | › immigration matters |

To successfully apply for legal aid, you must pass the merits test and the means test.
